The Alliance to Improve Emory Village
Update on the Emory Village Roundabout

and Related Projects

In May, Emory began the realignment of its Dowman Drive entrance off North Decatur Road as a new one-way street into campus through the Haygood Hopkins Gate. The new entrance, reminiscent of the early years at Emory, will also provide easy access through the future roundabout at Emory Village. Emory’s Dowman entrance will be open to traffic in late July. The entire entrance will be completed in October.

According to DeKalb County, preliminary utility projects related to the County’s roundabout project are moving forward. Before construction on the roundabout can begin, waterlines will need to be relocated along North Decatur Road, and following that work, power lines along that road will be buried from view.

The current schedule estimate from DeKalb County is that the waterlines will be buried in September/October and that the utilities will be buried in the late fall and early winter. The actual construction of the streetscape and roadway improvements are expected to begin in January 2009 and will take at least 12 months to complete.

Please visit the AIEV site for future updates from DeKalb County related to this project.
